Our team was invited to help this client to plan a major garden upgrade for their Spanish Mission style property in Melbourne’s suburb of Ivanhoe. The site is long and narrow, falling steeply steeply towards the house, and an old shaped existing swimming pool posed a number of design constraints.
The project required the careful review and resolution of levels and grading to ensure that the existing swimming pool was better integrated into the overall garden scheme. The concept design proposed a series of feature retaining walls to manage the grade changes, a new paved outdoor dining space, upgraded paved terraces, a refurbished pool, irrigation, lighting and revitalised garden planting. A bold colour scheme of earthy red render applied to the feature walls enhances the Spanish Mission style Architecture and completes the overall schematic vision for the property.
In addition to the schematic design, our team oversaw the detailed design and documentation of the project, co-ordination with structural engineers and the facilitation of the tender process to seek quotes from prospective landscape contractors.
The project is the result of a truly collaborative process involving the client, designer and the landscape contractor, Simon McCurdy Landscapes, resulting in a fantastic finished product that has transformed a rambling dysfunctional space into a striking private family environment, that will add value to the property and provide endless hours of fun for family into the future.
